I discovered fanfiction in the mid - aughts. The first stories I ever read were written for the Man from UNCLE fandom by a writer called Spikesgirl58. I was hooked!
At the time, I had discovered a show called Boston Legal that was in syndication. I loved it so much, I bought the entire series on DVD and binge - watched to my heart's content. That might have been the end of it, but one day a song called "Break Even" by The Script played on the radio and voila! My first story, "Triple A," popped into my head and wouldn't leave me alone until I wrote and published it on this site. That was in 2010.
Other stories began running through my mind demanding to be told. In the beginning, they were all based on Boston Legal. I remember being astonished when I published my tenth story; I had no idea I had 10 tales to tell. To date, I have published more than three hundred stories divided unevenly between the fandoms of Boston Legal, NCIS, The Man from UNCLE and The Blacklist.
If anyone reading this is wondering if you have what it takes to write a story someone else might want to read, I say to you: Go for it! Write the story you want to read.
Every story I've published, I like. I write what I want to read about characters doing what I want them to do. It continues to amaze me that OTHER people enjoy them. One of my favorite things to do every month is check my Story Stats on ff.net to see how many readers in different countries have checked out my work. The idea that people in countries I have never visited have read my thoughts and ideas blows my mind.
Writing has introduced me to a whole new world and I am eternally grateful.
